Over the last few months we’ve all heard the words “unprecedented” and “uncertain” too many times to count. While those words still hold true, we’ve chosen to focus on the positive. We’re here to tell you that now is a better time than ever to further your education and prepare for a future as a healer.
At AIMC Berkeley, we’re currently offering online classes so our students can continue their education while staying safe at home. We are running both our theoretical and clinical courses, and we are offering a telemedicine clinic. We are hard at work getting our campus and clinic ready to welcome students back this Fall for a limited offering of hands-on courses & a strategically designed in-person clinic. We are carefully adhering to CDC, state, and local guidelines and will be updating our plans in lockstep with their recommendations.
It’s true, the world has slowed down for a moment. Now could be the perfect time to turn inward and build a foundation for your future career. Your goals and ambitions for pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree in acupuncture and integrative medicine are just as important as ever.
Learn To Help Others
Have you always wanted to help others feel better? Pursuing higher education in acupuncture and integrative medicine could be right for you. Patients in The United States are more informed than ever. They want to be partners in their own health care. At AIMC, we train empathetic healthcare practitioners who take time with their patients. Our programs combine ancient healing traditions with modern technology and evidence-based care. We know that today, more than ever, people need the preventative care and deep internal nourishment that Chinese Medical wisdom can provide.
Studies show that during acupuncture treatment, the brain releases chemicals like endorphins which can help relieve pain and reduce stress. In a time when many are overwhelmed and anxious, learning to be of service using this ancient practice will give you the tools you need to offer care on an emotional and physical level.
Change Your Future
If you’re looking for a change in your career, you’ve come to the right place! Some of our students are recent college graduates, some have experience in conventional medical fields, and others have advanced degrees and experience in other pursuits, like massage therapy, or architecture. Many of them began a higher education in integrative medicine after personally experiencing healing from acupuncture, bodywork, and herbs.
After graduation, AIMC Berkeley grads are working as sole practitioners, collaboratively in integrative health centers and in community clinics. They are working for sports teams and hospitals and pursuing doctorate degrees so they can teach or do research.
Whatever your background is, if you want to change course to a career in integrative medicine, we want to help you succeed. Set up a virtual admissions meeting today and see for yourself what our masters and doctorate programs have to offer.
Financial Aid Opportunities
We know that financial roadblocks can be a concern when it comes to higher education. AIMC Berkeley doesn’t want that to stand in your way. We offer financial aid and scholarships to those who qualify.
In addition to these options, we also offer a work-study option that allows students to work a part-time job on campus to help pay for school. Work-study positions include library assistant, peer tutor, and clinic reception assistant. To learn more about how we can help you fund your education, set up a virtual meeting with us. Our financial aid office is here to answer any of your questions and develop a plan that’s right for you.
Become a Part of Community
We see our student body as a community, not just a group of people who go to school together. During this period of social distancing and uncertainty, a strong sense of community and camaraderie is more important than ever. As a part of our diverse student population, you can learn and grow with people who have similar goals and interests to your own but come from different backgrounds. We have an active student council, as well as several student-led groups, student initiatives, and peer tutoring. All of these could be great opportunities to collaborate, network, and form lasting friendships!
Learning From Home
While our programs are designed with a lot of in-person instruction and clinical, hands-on experience, we recently polled our students and found that they’re experiencing a lot of unexpected benefits from our current online format. Students report having more time to care for themselves and their families (or pets!) and making nourishing meals. One student said, “some classes almost feel like I'm getting private instruction since there isn't a lot of external distraction.” Overall, students think that the school is making the best of their education at a challenging time.
We look forward to resuming classes and clinic in-person as soon as we can but have found that our community and our classes are as vibrant as ever at this moment.
