Joining our Community

We hope to always be a positive landing spot for students and provide a smooth transition for students looking to complete their program of study with us. In a transitional time, we strive to provide support and a clear path for graduation and professional success. To provide such information, we’ve created a special page just for transfer students to help you find the information you need when you need it.

AIMC welcomes everyone

Pheonix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA)

In light of the recent closure of PIHMA, AIMC is attempting to intervene to support you in completing your graduate education in acupuncture and herbal medicine so that you can fulfill your goal of becoming a licensed acupuncturist.

PIHMA Need-to-Know

First and foremost, we are so sorry you are having to go through this difficult time.  We hope we can be a resource whether you choose to join our community or not. You've probably thought through most of these things, but just in case, we encourage you to review our write-up of some of the jarcon, designations, and impacts on your career when choosing an acupuncture school.

Choosing the Right Acupuncture School for YOU

To lower the friction to transfer, we've waived common fees associated with transfer, and made the evaluation process easier:

  • No application fees

  • No transcript evaluation fees

  • No transfer fees

  • Free required review courses

  • Free audits of transferred classes

If you'd like to preview the curriculum comparison of AIMC and PIHMA (aka the Crosswalk), we've linked that here. We hosted a handful of town halls. The slides from the most recent town hall are accessible here as well.

We've included the contact cards for your go-to people below, but you can reach all of them at start@aimc.edu.

Education at AIMC

Centering innovation allows for students to learn from experts across the country. By leveraging technology and modern approaches to education, we created a model in Austin at the start of 2024 that we believe can be replicated over and over. We’ve centralized services and embraced hybrid education, online classes blended with meaningful hands-on learning and community building.

What to Expect

Your application starts it all. All students apply through one universal application where you will find a few special selections just for you. Once we receive your application, your transfer evaluation fee and your official transcripts, we can begin evaluating your transfer credits.

Our Locations

Berkeley, CA is where AIMC started its journey and first grew roots. In 2024, we expanded to Austin, TX, the "live music capital of the world." Both cities have so much to offer students, but no matter where you choose for your in-person experience, you'll always experience our broader community online.
