AIMC Berkeley, in keeping with its principles of diversity and inclusion as well as its commitment to fighting racism and discrimination, is dedicating up to $2000 per trimester to projects that increase awareness, address the needs, highlight the accomplishments, and/or contribute to the advancement of underrepresented groups. These groups include, but are not limited to, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and people of low socioeconomic status.
All AIMC students, in all programs, are invited to submit a grant proposal for a portion of the funds to be used towards diversity initiatives. While most grant awards are anticipated to be approximately $250 or less to ensure a diversity of voices, greater amounts may be considered based on the scope, significance, and impact of the project.
Proposals will be reviewed by the AIMC Scholarship Committee on an ongoing basis. The maximum total of all grants awarded each trimester will not exceed $2000. Although the Scholarship Committee typically funds projects for one trimester at a time, it is open to renewal of funding in subsequent trimesters if the project’s need and impact are successfully demonstrated in the prior trimester.
To submit a proposal, students must complete a proposal form and submit it to the AIMC Scholarship Committee. Students should submit proposals a minimum of 45 days in advance of the expected project start date.
The AOM Scholarship Fund was established by The Trudy McAlister Foundation to support students who show promise of making significant contributions either to clinical practice and/or to the understanding of the role of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) in a modern context. The Trudy McAlister Foundation is committed to supporting U.S citizens who are students of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine who attend accredited (ACAOM) schools in the United States and are studying for their first professional degree. The Foundation also supports research and related activities that promote the advancement of AOM.
Each year the Foundation selects several award recipients for their scholarships. The application period typically begins in mid-fall with applications due in January. Please visit the Foundation’s scholarship page for the specific deadlines each year.
While this is not an AIMC Scholarship, AIMC Berkeley is a proud sponsor of the Foundation’s scholarship program. As a result, AIMC students are eligible to receive a special bonus scholarship that is only available for students attending sponsoring schools
