Master’s & Doctoral Degree Admissions Requirements
Applicants for the Master of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (MAHM) program must have :

A high school diploma or GED
(AIMC Berkeley does not accept ability-to-benefit (ATB) students). -
A minimum of 90 semester units (135 quarter units) of undergraduate coursework from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Applicants for the Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (DAHM) program must have :

A high school diploma or GED
(AIMC does not accept ability-to-benefit (ATB) students). -
A minimum of 90 semester units (135 quarter units) of undergraduate coursework from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and in good academic standing.
Application Process
Step 1: Application Part 1

Write a 500-word essay describing your journey toward Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine, including your philosophy and goals as a healthcare professional.

Complete Application for either the Master’s or Doctoral program.

Pay the $100 non-refundable application fee.

Begin gathering required documents for Application Part 2.
Step 2: Application Part 2

Official college transcripts sent directly from the institution via an electronic transcript service. AIMC does not accept student-submitted transcripts.

Two recommendation letters from professional, educational, or personal contacts. These letters should assess your academic ability, professionalism, compassion, maturity, and readiness for the Master’s or Doctoral program.
Step 3: Interview
Once all materials are received, Admissions will contact you to schedule an online interview. Online interviews are preferred, but phone interviews may be arranged if necessary.

Doctoral Completion Track Admissions Requirements
Applicants for the Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Completion Track (DAHM Completion Track) must have :

A Master’s degree equivalent to AIMC’s MAHM. Most California Acupuncture Board-approved programs grant degrees equivalent to AIMC’s MAHM.

A high school diploma or GED (AIMC does not accept ability-to-benefit students).

A minimum of 90 semester units (135 quarter units) of undergraduate coursework from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and in good academic standing.

Transfer Applicants
If you are considering transferring from another acupuncture program, please email start@aimc.edu.
A preliminary unofficial evaluation of transfer credits can take up to a week to process. Official transfer credit evaluations are completed after an application is submitted, and all official transcripts are received. A $100 transfer evaluation fee applies.
Approximately 15% of AIMC students transferred from other acupuncture schools. Transfer students come for relocation, better class schedules, internship opportunities, or a different academic environment. We are happy to assist with the transition!
Non-Degree Seeking Applicants
Non-degree seekers include:

Unofficial transcripts from your current or previous acupuncture degree program (electronic copies only).

C.A.B. tutorial students must submit a letter from their program stating the required courses and equivalent AIMC courses. AIMC cannot evaluate course equivalencies for the C.A.B. tutorial program.
