OFF-SITE CLINICAL EXTERNSHIPS

AIMC Berkeley currently offers 2 permanent off-site clinical internships opportunities for our clinic intern students. Every year we add a few more temporary off-site clinical internships such as UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, Homeless Prenatal Program, etc. These are unique opportunities for students to experience and participate in professional environments focused on a specific type of care.

UC Berkeley Sports Medicine off-site clinical internship

The UC Berkeley off-site clinical internship at the Simpson Center for Student-Athlete High Performance provides our students with a unique opportunity to work with world-class athletes. The internship is supervised by Glenn Oberman, DO., who specializes in orthopedics.

LifeLong Medical Care – Berkeley

Located nearby in Berkeley, the West Berkeley Clinic provides opportunities for students to work with those most in need who are often Medi-Cal recipients. The internship is supervised by Hideko Pelzer, who specializes in acupuncture and Japanese acupuncture.

Charlotte Maxwell Clinic Logo

Charlotte Maxwell Clinic – Oakland

Charlotte Maxwell Clinic provides complementary integrative cancer care and safety net services free of charge to underserved women with cancer.
Acupuncture, herbs, homeopathy, bodywork, guided imagery, movement and nutritional therapies are used to complement mainstream cancer treatments. These treatments are used to ease the pain, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, neuropathy and numerous other side effects that often accompany surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. The internship is supervised by Dr. Amy Chang.

Homeless Prenatal Program – San Francisco

HPP provides a safe place for homeless pregnant women to receive supportive services that influence mothers and their babies for the rest of their lives: pre and post natal classes on nutrition; preparing and caring for an infant; breastfeeding; and social, emotional and medical support.  Important necessities are also provided to mothers in need – housing, groceries, diapers and infant and baby clothes.

Testimonials

"One of my favorite things about AIMC is the sense of community. We come together to support each other through challenges. Instead of a sense of competitiveness between students, there is a caring community that lifts everybody up. The faculty and staff are approachable and provide wonderful support during your graduate journey.
