March 14 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm PDT

$125.00 – $200.00

CAB approved for 8 CEU hours

*** Can be used towards a Certificate in Japanese Medicine ***

About the Course: This day of patient care will serve to demonstrate clinical applications of Kampo Medicine. In-person patient encounters will focus on a key clinical component of the Kampo system, Abdominal Diagnosis (Fukushin). Students will observe and apply the precise exam technique, and interpret findings as they relate to herbal treatment theory, as learned over the preceding weekend. The classical formulas previewed in the didactic course will be discussed in relation to specific patient complaints and presentations. Participants willl have the opportunity to witness a senior provider at work. Seeing the skill of matching abdominal findings with formula patterns provides a critical strategy for accurate prescribing and positive patient outcomes.

Upon the completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Better understand the clinical application of Kampo Medicine with real patient case
  • Demonstrate greater familiarity with the practice of Fukushin in the context of Kampo Medicine
  • Accurately perform the Kampo abdominal exam and chart the findings
  • Identify and interpret Fukusho (Abdominal Patterns) and match them with corresponding Yakusho (Formula Patterns)
  • Match formulas from the Shang Han Lun and Jing Gui Yao Lue with the corresponding abdominal patterns witnessed in this day of active patient care
