Uniting Herbal Medicine, People & the Planet
Chinese, Western, and Indigenous Herbal Traditions

Climate Change is no longer something we can ignore. But how can we respond in an empowered way? People and plants have always shared a special partnership, and have worked together for hundreds of thousands of years. It’s part of our ecology, and it’s part of our planetary heritage.  Herbal medicine is the foundation of healing traditions all over the planet, and we can create healing resources in the times ahead by reviving bioregional, sustainable herbal medicine. By restoring our relationship with plants and herbal medicine, we also restore our lost connection to the earth, which is so important if we are to survive the times ahead. Amidst the fear and uncertainty, we invite our community to come together for a day of exploration and empowerment with herbal medicine.

Our conference will be a dialogue and hands-on learning about ways herbal medicine can be of assistance to us during climate change. We’ll explore what we can learn from our local herbal allies to help us, and how to work with native California medicinal plants in the context of our herbal traditions. We’ll also discuss how we can continue creating local, sustainable medicine for ourselves, and come away with resources, knowledge, and connections. The day will be a mix of classes as well as hands on activities such as herbal medicine making, local plant ID, and herbal diagnosis and treatment.

Topics will include:
– Crossovers and Commonalities between Western & Eastern herbalism
– Adaptogenic Herbs for a Changing Climate
– Growing Organic Chinese Herbs in the US and Seed Saving
– Native California Medicinal Plants- Local Herbal Allies
– Medicine Making

Our teachers are a diverse group of bioregional herbalists, bringing together traditional Chinese, Western, Eclectic, and Indigenous herbal traditions.
