The most obvious advantage of the M/W/F program is that it leaves my weekends and evenings free to spend time with my friends and my family. I work part-time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and study in the afternoons. I have formed a very steady Monday to Friday 9–5 kind of schedule that I didn’t even have when I worked full-time. This steadiness of schedule has provided the base to be disciplined in my studying, an indispensable factor in my scholastic performance.
Returning to my education was a difficult transition because, as a rule, I’ve never liked school. However, studying TCM is like being at a carnival. While it is exhausting, you still want to go on every ride. Student life at AIMC Berkeley is fascinating, as each student brings a unique background and insight to the healing arts. Sometimes I learn more in the student lounge at lunch than in the classroom all morning. As a sixth term student, I feel that the first half of the program prepared me well for my internship, and I know that my internship will prepare me to be a powerful practitioner once out of school.
