AIMC Berkeley Names Akizo Okada Dean Emeritus of Traditional Japanese Medicine
Okada is a much sought after teacher for seminars and workshops around the world. AIMC Berkeley strives to maintain an ongoing international exchange of expertise regarding the foundations of Japanese Medicine using with the latest advancements and techniques. “Okada Sensei truly grasps what quality teaching and quality learning is all about. With his expertise, connections and input, AIMC Berkeley will undoubtedly create a cutting edge program in Japanese Acupuncture” said academic dean, Benjamin Dierauf. Akizo Okada comes from a long line of Oriental medicine practitioners, including his father, the late Okada Meiyu Sensei. Graduating from the Toyo Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine in 1971, he took part in the first mission to the People’s Republic of China where he observed several older practitioners practicing acupuncture in the traditional Japanese way. Okada has held many important positions in the Oriental medicine community, including President of the Society for Traditional Japanese Acupuncture, Senior Counselor of the Japanese Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society, teaching positions at the Tokyo Therapeutic Institute, Toyo Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine, and Goto College of Medical Arts & Sciences. He also established a study group to research the classical literature of Oriental medicine. |
