Types of Traditional Japanese Treatments

Our traditional Japanese medicine practitioners select from among the following modalities to best address your health concerns. Your treatment may use a combination of these modalities.

Hari (Japanese Acupuncture)

Strategic placement of acupuncture needles around the body relieve pain & tension, balance physiologic functions, and initiate self-healing processes. The use of ultra-fine needles and highly refined protocols maximize treatment effectiveness & comfort. Japanese acupuncture, or Hari, is gentle and relaxing, and works well for highly sensitive people. Click here for more information about Japanese acupuncture.

Okyu (Moxibustion Heat Therapy)

Traditional heat therapy involving the burning of the small half-grain amounts of the herb artemis vulgaris, enhances blood flow & metabolic activity in order to normalize tissue function and provide comfort and relief.

Shiatsu/Anma (Medical Body Work)

Bodywork techniques (kneading, tapping and pressure) involving finger, thumb, and palm provide diagnostic information and relaxation as well as enhance smooth circulation of blood and fluids throughout the body.

Kampo (Japanese Herbal Medicine)
