International Admissions

Foreign Transcripts

As an international student, you need to meet the same entrance requirements as a domestic student, and complete this additional step as part of your application process:

Have your official school transcripts submitted to a transcript evaluation service that will determine whether you meet the minimum requirements for entry (60 semester units of undergraduate college level work, 2.5 GPA).  Transcripts from foreign institutions must be evaluated by an approved agency, with the evaluation and the official transcripts used sent directly to AIMC Berkeley. To find such an agency, contact the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), http://www.naces.org/. You may also contact our admissions department to get more details on this process.

English Language Proficiency Requirements

If you are a non-native English speaker, you are responsible for having sufficient proficiency in the English language to successfully participate in the master's program. As English language services are not provided by the college, you must demonstrate English language proficiency by one of the following methods:

A.    TOEFL/TSE results: TOEFL > 500/173+ (paper/computer); TSE > average.
B.  TOEFL iBT scores: Overall score of at least 70, with the following minimum section requirements:

Reading: 16
Listening: 19
Speaking: 19
Writing: 16

C.    (AIMC Berkeley institution code is 8482) Diploma/Degree from English language-only institution.

Applicants who do not satisfy this requirement may be considered for admission with English as a second language, but they must satisfy the proficiency requirement in English before beginning the clinical internship.  Additionally, these students may be required to begin the Master’s program on a part-time basis with concurrent enrollment in English language courses.  To be eligible for a student visa, students must enroll in at least 12 units between AIMC Berkeley and an English language school that is approved to offer F-1 visas.

You can contact the TOEFL office in your home country or in the U.S. at TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, Rosedale Road, Princeton NJ 08541, or on the web at http://www.ets.org/toefl/

Student Visas

If you are an international student, you will need an F-1 student visa in order to enroll in courses at AIMC Berkeley. Once you are admitted into the master's program, you will need to receive this visa from the American embassy or consulate in your country. This will permit you to enter the US. You will need your admissions letter of acceptance, an I-20 (that AIMC Berkeley will issue), and proof of financial stability in order to obtain your visa. AIMC Berkeley will do what it can to facilitate this process and does not charge for these services. Your I-20 gives you the freedom to re-enter the US if you decide to travel or visit your home country. You must meet minimum participation requirements while enrolled.
