The Berkeley Campus

"The beautiful facilities and their design reflect the considerable potential for student clinic experiences and for service to the community."
—Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, accreditation action letter of June 2, 2004

Exterior view of AIMC Berkeley building from corner of Shattuck Avenue and Blake StreetWalking through the halls you will be struck by all the natural light streaming into the classrooms, the rich scents wafting from the herb room, or the lustrous view of the tree-lined Berkeley hills through our large picture window. The clean and professional clinic facility is highly regarded both regionally and nationally as a destination for clinical learning and practice. And the well-stocked and organized herbal dispensary gives you room to develop your mastery of formulae.

This 14,000 square-foot facility was specifically designed to meet the College's needs, including an ADA compliant Community Clinic. Upstairs you will find four classrooms: one large lecture room with an extensive herbal sample library, two medium sized lecture rooms, and a large demonstration/observation room with numerous treatment tables.

The library contains thousands of volumes of Oriental and Western medical material. The College maintains collections of English, Chinese and Japanese language texts, over 30 titles of Eastern and Western medical journals, and 300 reference titles. Two computers give you Mac, PC, and Internet access.

Downstairs you will find the Community Clinic: a comfortably furnished reception area leads you toward a main clinic, with 10 private and semi-private treatment areas, and a clinic annex with six additional treatment areas. Clinic rooms are equipped with spill-proof needle receptacles, automatic sinks, space heaters, and soft lighting. AIMC Berkeley offers you advanced electrical acupuncture and non-invasive stimulation equipment not available at many acupuncture schools, infrared heat lamps, moxibustion, cupping, and spooning.

The herbal dispensary carries over 350 raw herbs, and hundreds of formulae in a clean, well lighted environment. Our raw herb specimens represent some of the finest available from our various sources. The College carries prepared formulae in kampo-style powdered form, and patent/pill form. You benefit from the right balance of efficacy, convenience, and cost offered by different herb forms.
